American Red Cross
Ryder provides financial support, transportation services, vehicles and volunteers to the American Red Cross as a Disaster Responder member, part of its Annual Disaster Giving Program. As a partner with the Red Cross, we are part of a coordinated national effort to prepare for disasters before they occur, and get supplies to people and communities in the aftermath..
Our employees volunteer to help the Red Cross in disaster relief and prevention efforts including hurricane relief and the Home Fire Campaign, which works to prevent fires and save lives by installing smoke alarms in homes across the country.
Ryder Trauma Center
In 1992, the Ryder Charitable Foundation became the founding benefactor of the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, a Level I adult and pediatric trauma center. Over more than 25 years, its physicians have saved the lives of countless people with devastating injuries. Its surgical teams treat an average of 4,000 patients a year, making it one of the busiest trauma centers in South Florida.
In October, 2001, the U.S. Army selected the Ryder Trauma Center as its only national Army Trauma Training Center to enhance the clinical skills and experience of its Forward Surgical Teams before being deployed for combat.
Ryder Trauma Center is also the designated facility to treat the President of the United States and other dignitaries if necessary. In 2018, a second trauma facility was named Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson South.
Truckers Against Trafficking
Through Truckers Against Trafficking Ryder is part of a national industry effort to recover victims of human trafficking and save lives. Recognizing that our more than 8,200 drivers were in a unique position to spot human trafficking on the nation’s roadways, Ryder partnered with Truckers Against Trafficking. The organization trains all of our drivers to spot and report human trafficking.
